When it comes to churning out unique sounds and lyrical melody, Nigeria takes the centre stage in the African entertainment scene. While this might be music to the ears, for Nigerians at least, the fact still remains that a plethora of untapped talents awaits to be discovered. With this realisation, two of the biggest brands in Nigeria, Access Bank- a bank reputable for its ‘more than banking’ promise, and Star Lager Beer, set out to discover, engage and empower young music talents in Nigeria, and to provide a platform for them to shine more through Access The Stars reality TV show.

The show which kicked off with regional auditions in Abeokuta, Lagos, Abuja, Calabar, Onitsha and Owerri saw thousands of individuals from the different regions trying their luck at stardom. For those who could sing, it was as certain as the air that they breathed in and for those who couldn’t, it was a mere trial and error. Twelve regional finalists from the different regions and a thirteenth finalist from the online competition would be picked to perform and vie for the grand prize of 150 million Naira in cash and prizes.

While speaking on the reason behind the collaborative work between both brands, MD/CEO Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe stated that “We have about 200 million people with talents, but some do not have the platform to showcase them. But what we are doing is Impacting lives positively by supporting these talents for a sustainable future through the appropriate platform and in turn make them shine more.”
